Schedule an In-person or Virtual Session with a Career Coach

There are two ways to meet with a career coach at the Andrew Young School:

1 – Weekly walk-in hours: Tuesdays – 12:30-2:30pm AND Wednesdays – 2-4pm. Drop by for a quick resume review, or get a quick question answered.

2 – Schedule a longer appointment to talk about anything that’s on your mind career-wise. Contact our office directly, and we’ll see when we can fit you in – 404-413-0069 or More recent graduates can schedule via Handshake.

Frequently Asked Questions

Handshake is a one-stop-shop for all things career related in your field. You can search for jobs and internships (NOTE: Handshake replaces AYS CareerLink), upload your resume and submit to positions of interest, view and RSVP to career events, create a resume (if you haven't done so already), and so much more!
No. Employers cannot see any of your information on the Handshake platform. However, you can submit your resume directly to opportunities via the system and you can also give permission for Career Services to submit your resume as part of resume books (as per individual requests from employers).
If you already have a resume, you can upload it by hovering under “My Account”, and then clicking “My Documents”. If you need to create a resume, you’ll click on the link on the left toolbar under the “I want to…” prompt that says “Create Resume using Resume builder”. Our office recommends the “Andrew Young Resume Template”, but you have the option to select from a list of templates. Click on the name of the template, and fill in your information. Once finished, you can submit and Handshake will save this as a resume to use for applications. Additionally, the landing page after you click “submit” will allow you to download your resume so you can tweak or edit it in Microsoft Word and use it for applications outside of Handshake as well.
If your major is wrong in Handshake, please check with the University Registrar. Handshake pulls your basic information directly from Georgia State’s main Banner system. If you change your major in Handshake, it will automatically be replaced within 24 hours, by the one in Banner.
Be sure that you have entered your GSU ID - WITHOUT "@student.gsu". If you feel you've entered your username and password correctly and the system still gives you an error or will not log you in, please contact our office: 404-413-0069. On the alumni log-in page, you will still use your GSU ID, but you will log-in with a generic password posted on the log-in page. If you have any trouble, please contact our office: 404-413-0069. If you are an AYS major and you are not in our system, please check with the University Registrar’s Office concerning the official major listed on your transcript and then contact our office for assistance (404-413-0103).
