YOUR ALUMNI COMMUNITY

Our Values, Your Benefit
Community Building: Community is the cornerstone of all AYS’s alumni relations activity. By working to foster and sustain community within the AYS alumni body, we can form more purposeful relationships among alumni.
Professional Networking and Development: Networking is critical to relationship development, resource sharing, fostering strong ties, and opening lines of communication that enrich the AYS alumni community.
Public Service & Outreach: AYS alumni understand the importance of public service in our communities. By crafting programs and initiatives that support public service, our alumni can continue to thrive.
Policy: Policy is a professional focal point of many AYS alumni. Ensuring that our alumni are aware of the emerging trends and best practices in the policy space is critical in building a well-informed community.
Scholarship: Scholarship stands as the foundation of this research institution; and we look to enhance the scholarly pursuits within our alumni to better the communities and the systems around them.

Volunteerism
Our alumni are dedicated changemakers committed to improving communities, enriching lives, and creating solutions for crucial needs.
We strive to offer meaningful community service experiences for our alumni, whether it’s offering resources to underprivileged families, alleviating homelessness, or working to preserve the planet.
Every day, our alumni community, through ongoing, active engagement, epitomizes the core AYS mission of creating a better world to live in.
Components of our community service approach include but are not limited to…
Community service exposes individuals to diverse perspectives and challenges they might not otherwise encounter.
This can lead to greater understanding, empathy, and awareness of societal issues.
Community service encourages individuals to participate actively in their communities, promoting civic engagement and a sense of ownership in the well-being of the society we live in.
When individuals come together to engage in community service, we foster a sense of unity and solidarity within their communities.
This collaboration strengthens the social fabric of the community and promotes a sense of belonging.
For more information on specific community service opportunities, visit our events listings on the GSU calendar, and subscribe to our AYS Alumni Relations mailing list for updates and announcements.

Social Responsibility
Engaging in community service reflects an individual’s commitment to being socially responsible for and contributing positively to the well-being of our society.
It acknowledges that each person has a role to play in addressing social issues and improving the lives of others.
